The kits
What comes in a moving kit?
Each kit is the boxes a house that size usually needs, plus the things people forget: packing tape, packing paper, a wardrobe box with a rail and a marker. Every kit lists exactly what is inside, and how it compares with what other New Zealand sellers charge.
1–2 bedroom kit
A flat, a unit or a small first home
Enough boxes for one or two bedrooms plus a kitchen, with the tape and paper to go with them.

The most common move we size for: three bedrooms, a full kitchen and a garage that always has more in it than you think.

Not yet. We are still settling a carton supplier and courier rates, and until both are real we will not publish a price or take your money. The kit pages show what comparable New Zealand packs cost instead. The calculator and the guides work now and are free.
Box sizes
Which box size do you use for which room?
The rule that saves your back: the smaller the box, the heavier the thing that goes in it. Small boxes take books, tins and tools; medium takes most of the kitchen, linen and toys; large takes bedding and cushions; and anything on a hanger goes in a wardrobe box.

Questions
How many moving boxes do I need?
It depends on the house rather than the number of people. As a starting point, published NZ box counts put a 1-bedroom move at around 25 boxes, a 3-bedroom house at around 40, and a 4-bedroom house at around 55. Our calculator adjusts that for your kitchen, books, hanging clothes and how much you are getting rid of.
What does delivery cost?
No delivery price is published yet, because we are still setting our courier rates and would rather show nothing than a figure we cannot honour. When it is set, you will see the price for your address before you pay, rural addresses included.
Can I buy boxes on their own, without a kit?
Yes. Boxes are sold in 10-packs by size, and wardrobe boxes, tape, paper and bubble wrap are all available separately.
Are the boxes new?
Yes, they are new flat-packed cartons. We do not make any claim about where they are made or what they are made from until we have that in writing from the supplier.
What if I order too many?
Unused, unassembled boxes can be returned within 30 days. You pay the return freight and we refund on receipt. If something arrives damaged or missing, that is on us and we replace or refund it at our cost, as the Consumer Guarantees Act requires.
Would free supermarket boxes do the job?
Sometimes, and we say so on our guide to where to get moving boxes. Free boxes cost you time, they come in mismatched sizes that do not stack, and produce boxes are often damp. If you have spare evenings and a car, they are a genuine option.
When will kits be available to buy?
